Thailand’s Customs Department is stepping up outbound passenger and cargo screening with AI, X-ray machines, K-9 units and risk-management systems after recent trafficking cases raised concerns that transnational drug networks are exploiting the country’s airports and logistics infrastructure.

After the 18-container seizure at Laem Chabang, the Customs Department is widening inspections, re-export plans and legal action against the syndicates behind the trade.
